In September retirees Glenn Green and Carol VandenEngel achieved their goal of canoeing across Canada and raising thousands of dollars for Kingston’s Loving Spoonful. Come hear what it’s been like!

After setting out on June 6 this summer they have now travelled the final 2,200 kilometres, covering 8,515 kilometres altogether between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans during the summers of 2017, 2018 and 2019. They’re well within reach of their final goal of raising $25,000 for Loving Spoonful and its vision of a healthy, sustainable, food-secure community.

Come hear Carol and Glenn talk about their experiences – including heavy weather, isolation, capsizing, bears and wolves – and how they provisioned themselves with fresh local food dehydrated at home then shipped ahead along their route. Their presentation also highlights the amazing scenery as well as the warmth and generosity of the people they’ve encountered along the way.

This is a repeat of the presentation offered at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 5 at the Isabel Turner Branch; for details and to register for the earlier presentation please visit https://calendar.kfpl.ca/event/2491207.  Both sessions of this program require free registration.
