Join us for a community vigil and rose ceremony in honour of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Join Kingston Interval House, Trellis, KFPL, Kingston Anti-Violence Advisory Council, and the Sexual Assault Centre for a community vigil and rose ceremony in honour of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.
Doors will open at 3:30 PM. Smudging will be available.
The vigil will begin at 4:00 PM. It will commemorate the lives of the fourteen women murdered in the Montreal Massacre at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989. The event will also honour the lives of other women from Kingston and the surrounding area who have been killed through gender-based violence.
The event will include live music and speakers.
Following the rose ceremony, participants can enjoy some light refreshments, connect with resources and with each other.
This is a drop-in program with limited space available.
This program is sponsored by the Kingston Frontenac Anti-Violence Coordinating Committee and the Friends of the Library.
