FREE movie screening & panel brought to you by KFPL, Queen's University Library, SLC Libraries, & Royal Canadian Military College/ Bibliothèque Massey, Collège militaire royal du Canada.

Join KFPL, Queen’s University Library, St. Lawrence College Libraries, and Massey Library, Royal Canadian Military College/ Bibliothèque Massey, Collège militaire royal du Canada for a free movie screening of "The Librarians" and a panel discussion during Freedom to Read Week

Panel will include Laura Carter, CEO and Chief Librarian, Mark Asberg, Vice Provost and University Librarian, Queen's University and Krishna Burra, Director of Education, Limestone School Board District. Moderated by Megan Hamilton.

"The Librarians": In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.

Refreshments are available for purchase from The Screening Room's Snack Bar.
