Fire Prevention

KFPL Live

Most fire deaths occur in the home. Having an escape plan can make all the difference. Kingston Fire & Rescue shows how to protect your home and family from tragedy in this family-friendly program.

In Canada most fire deaths occur in the home, where people believe they're most safe. You may have only a minute or two from the time a fire alarm sounds to escape safely from a house or apartment, and that can be even more difficult at night if you're woken up in the dark. Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of that small window of opportunity. How prepared is your family? Does each of you know what to do and how to get out? Have you practised what to do in different seasons? Advance preparation can make all the difference.

Kingston Fire and Rescue personnel will be at two KFPL branches on October 8th to talk to families about home fire prevention and to answer questions: at 2 p.m. at Calvin Park and again at 7 p.m. at Isabel Turner.  These programs are open to adults, teens, and children 7 years and older (to be accompanied by a caregiver).  Both sessions will be the same.

This program requires free registration.  It is one of two identical presentations being given on Tuesday October 8; to register for the evening session at Isabel Turner please visit http://url.ie/145zd
