La vie quotidienne des familles francophones, anglophones, et exogames - The Daily Life of Francophone, Anglophone, and Multilingual Families

Laurence Simard-Gagnon est détentrice d’un doctorat en géographie de l’Université Queen’s. Sa thèse a porté sur les expériences des mères francophones ayant migré à Kingston, Ontario. Ancrée dans une approche intersectionnelle, elle s’est ainsi intéressée aux impacts des circonstances de migration et de minorisation dans la vie de ces femmes, et notamment : à leurs rapports au travail salarié ; à leurs visions des soins aux enfants, de leur éducation, et de la transmission culturelle ; à leurs perceptions de la ville et de leur vie à Kingston ; et à leurs horizons de possibilités pour l’avenir.

 

Laurence Simard-Gagnon holds a PhD in geography from Queen’s University. Her thesis explored experiences of Francophone mothers who migrated to Kingston, Ontario. Anchored in an intersectional approach, she investigated the impacts of migration and minority-language in the lives of these women, particularly in their relationships to paid work; in their visions of child care, education, and cultural transmission; in their perceptions of the city and of their life in Kingston; and in their horizons of future possibilities.

  

Kassondra Walters est diplômée du collège communautaire du Nouvelle-Écosse avec un diplôme en commerce international. Elle a occupé divers postes en développement des affaires et en administration dans les secteurs privé et public dans une grande variété d'industries; y compris l'ingénierie environnementale, l'informatique, les logiciels, les ressources humaines, le recrutement, l'immobilier et les organisations à but non lucratif. Elle apporte ses compétences au Centre de ressources pour les familles des militaires de Kingston (CRFMK) en tant que coordonnatrice de l'engagement communautaire et de l'information, où elle aide à appuyer les familles des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) à des ressources qui répondent à leurs besoins uniques dans la communauté.

 

Kassondra Walters is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Community College with a diploma in International Business. She has held various positions in business development and administration in both the private and public sectors in a wide variety of industries; including environmental engineering, IT, software, staffing & recruitment, real estate, and non-profit. She brings her skill set to the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) as the Community Engagement and Information Coordinator, where she helps connect Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families to resources that meet their unique needs in the community.

 

Sylvain Morel, un Franco-Ontarien natif de Chelmsford, a débuté sa carrière d’enseignant en 1996. Il a eu l’occasion d’enseigner dans des systèmes britanniques et américains au Moyen-Orient de 1998 à 2003. Il adore voyager, ayant eu la chance de visiter une vingtaine de pays à ce jour. Il s’est marié en 2002 avec une femme à l’étranger et qui a immigré au Canada avec lui un an plus tard. Ils ont présentement 2 enfants bilingues qui fréquentent des écoles francophones. Après avoir été directeur adjoint pour diverses écoles depuis 2010 à Toronto, Whitby et Kingston, il est maintenant directeur de l’École secondaire publique Mille-Îles depuis 2 ans.

 

Sylvain Morel, a Franco-Ontarian native of Chelmsford, began his teaching career in 1996. He had the opportunity to teach in the British and American systems in the Middle East from 1998 to 2003. He loves to travel, having had the chance to visit about twenty countries to date. He married in 2002 to a woman abroad who immigrated to Canada with him a year later. They currently have two bilingual children who attend French-language schools. After being Vice-Principal for various schools since 2010 in Toronto, Whitby and Kingston, he is now Principal of l’École secondaire publique Mille-Îles since 2018.
