Half-hour program for seniors and adults via Zoom on Friday afternoons, from July 23 through August 27. Teen volunteers and staff will read short excerpts from works of both fiction and nonfiction.
Most of us, adults as well as children, enjoy listening to storytelling. Even better than an audiobook is hearing a story read aloud.
Try this weekly half-hour program for seniors and other adults via Zoom on Friday afternoons, from July 23 through August 27, in which teen volunteers and library staff will read short excerpts from works of both fiction and nonfiction.
This expansion of the Reading Buddies program to an adult audience will be offered weekly on Friday afternoons in both a half-hour session from 2 to 2:30 PM, as well as in an hour-long session from 3 to 4 PM. Registration for either session is open to both individuals as well as to groups of two or more. Participants are welcome to stay online after the readings for a brief conversation about what has been read. Please register for this 2 to 2:30 PM half-hour session by clicking on the blue Register button above; to register for the 3 to 4 PM hour-long session please visit https://calendar.kfpl.ca/event/5316406.
Registrants will need access to a computer or other device with a stable Internet connection. Access to a webcam and a microphone is helpful, though not necessary. For those new to online programming we recommend that registrants arrange for assistance at their end from someone familiar with Zoom. Registrants will need to download in advance the latest version of Zoom to whichever device they'll be using. They will also be asked to provide an email address so that we can send them a link to the weekly Zoom meeting.
Both the half-hour and the hour-long program require free registration using a Kingston Frontenac Public Library membership. If you do not already have a KFPL membership please contact Anne Hall at ahall@kfpl.ca or (613) 549-8888 ext 3528.
