Join Lee Airton as they chat with KFPL about their works on gender diversity and current projects.
Dr. Lee Airton is an Assistant Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies in Education at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Their public scholarship includes the blog They Is My Pronoun, the No Big Deal national social media initiative, and the books Teaching About Gender Diversity: Teacher-Tested Lesson Plans for K-12 Classrooms, and Gender – Your Guide: A Gender-Friendly Primer on What to Know, What to Say and What to Do in the New Gender Culture. Dr. Airton and their research team launched Gegi.ca [pronounced gee gee dot c a], the first bilingual self-advocacy resource for K-12 students who are experiencing gender expression and gender identity discrimination at school.

Attendees will observe a discussion on how gender diversity has influenced social and educational environments, and how gender diverse populations can approach obstacles with confidence and community support.
