This is your opportunity to submit a work of flash fiction or poetry incorporating diverse Black perspectives.
Are you a poet and want to show it? Do you have a story waiting for a place to write itself?
Send us a work of poetry or flash fiction between Feb.1-Feb.27 to have it posted on the KFPL website, and take the opportunity to read your work to fellow authors live online Feb.28.
This event is meant to provide an opportunity for local Black creators to share their works live in their own voice. Attendees are welcome to read their works or simply be part of a supportive audience.
Focus: Black identity in fiction and reality
What is flash fiction (aka micro fiction or postcard fiction)? Flash fiction is defined as a story under 1500 words. These small creations provide the writer an opportunity to write compact, sharply articulated works that are easily consumed by the reader.
Limit of one piece per writer, less than 1500 words
Live reading event: Feb. 28th - register above - library card required
Ages 13+
Rights
The author retains all rights to their work but acknowledges that the Kingston Frontenac Public Library will host their poems online and may use them for marketing. By submitting work to the KFPL the author/creator grants to KFPL the right to publish the work in print or digital form, to disseminate the work as it deems appropriate, to archive the work, and to use all or parts of it in its marketing materials.
