Explore outer space by examining constellations visible in Southern Ontario's night sky. Observe a real meteorite from the London Children's Museum's collection. Families will experiment with their own impact craters and measure how changes in the impactor affect the resulting crater.
Materials Needed at Home:
- a container (Options: Tupperware, bins or even recyclables work great!)
- loose material (Options: flour, cocoa powder, sand, dirt etc.). Fill your container 1-2 inches deep with whatever you have chosen! Tip: 2 inches of flour with a light sprinkling of cocoa powder (or cinnamon) works great!
- 2 objects of different size and weight (i.e. a ping pong ball and a tennis ball etc. It can be anything as long as it fits inside the container!)
- Optional: something to measure with (Options: Ruler or measuring tape)
