In honour of Science Literacy Week, amateur astronomer Frank Hitchens returns to KFPL to talk about the Hubble Space Telescope.

Take a look at the past and future of one of the most amazing and productive instruments in the history of science. 1990 saw the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope, and in the intervening three decades, Hubble has proven to be the most productive instrument in the history of science.  Canada has played a key role throughout the telescope's history; the Shuttle-based Canadarm was used to deploy Hubble in 1990 and made its repair and upgrading possible until 2011, when the Shuttle fleet was retired.
