KFPL and Tone Deaf present an afternoon of experimental music and live improvisation responding to the "graphic scores" produced by youth at Tone Deaf & KFPL's "Graphic Scores Composition Workshop."
Kingston's annual festival of adventurous sound performance, Tone Deaf, and Kingston Frontenac Public Library are pleased to present an afternoon of experimental music and live improvisation responding to "graphic scores" produced by youth at Tone Deaf & KFPL's "Graphic Scores Workshop."
On November 17, Kingston and Frontenac youth will have the opportunity to work with local musicians and composers to compose musical notation with colours, shapes, and other drawings! Participants will learn the history of "graphic scores" and receive live-recordings of their compositions performed on site. Then, on November 24, acclaimed musical improvisers, Germaine Liu and Nicole Rampersaud, will perform the workshop scores again for a live audience at KFPL's Central branch. Opening that performance will be local electronic musician, Dimitri Georgaras.
