This workshop is designed for sighted people to learn or improve their guiding techniques in order to assist people who are blind and partially sighted.

Participants will learn basic skills for guiding and assisting people who are blind and partially sighted in everyday situations.

Artist and advocate Amy Amantea will also cover: language, disability and etiquette, assumptions and bias, respectful and dignified ways of facilitating conversation, guide dogs and service dogs, and the white cane.

Participants will have an opportunity to try out practical techniques in sighted guiding with a partner, including giving directions and what to describe as you are doing it.

This program is offered with FOLDA (Festival of Live Digital Art).
