Calvin Park Branch

The Friends of the Library Community Meeting Room

Explore how older adults can thrive while aging in place—in the homes and communities they know and value. Followed by a Talking Cafe facilitated by Compassionate Communities.

Dr. Vince DePaul will share insights from his work with Oasis, a Kingston-developed model that partners with older adults, community organizations, and housing providers to support social connection and healthy aging in naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs). Learn what NORCs are, why they matter, and how community-driven programs like Oasis are strengthening aging in place across Canada. This session will highlight real examples, emerging research, and practical ideas for building supportive, vibrant communities for older adults.

Dr. DePaul is the Associate Director (Physical Therapy) at School of Rehabilitation Therapy.

At 3:30 PM, the presentation will be followed by Talking Cafe where participants engage in lightly guided conversation facilitated by Compassionate Communities Kingston Canada.
