For ages 14 and up. Join Tessa Charlebois for a workshop focused on dreams and personal world building, including materials to foster expression and guided exercises, giving autonomy to each maker.
Elements of painting, drawing, and sculpture are included to create a small maquette of your dream world. The beauty of this workshop extends when ideas and inspiration continue in the minds of dreamers.
To show the beauty that exists in the world. To Tessa Charlebois, art is about the infinite dreams. She holds a Major in Studio Art, Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Growing up in North Western Ontario, Thunder Bay, located on the shores of Lake Superior; landscapes taught her how to draw. Nature is the root to her inspiration. She has a passion for the arts to blossom, to bring a sense of truth, and a love of being in a place where expression is infinite. To help others grab that same feeling, that is what really motivates her. Her primary practice is in drawing and painting, but her real love is work with metal, bronze casting.
As a community art organizer, she's created group exhibitions and collaborative artistic events for the public. She stands with various organizations in the public and educational sectors. She is the creator of Ateliér BACK40: a studio, school, and gallery, and she leads and designs programming as Artist Educator for Agnes Etherington Art Centre, focusing on children’s art education as an incubator for change. She is attracted to the use of art as an apparatus. Her focus has shifted on thinking about creating art for hospitals, as a haven and solace, as she navigates her health journey through the medical system. Her dream is to create a space for healing.
Make It Happen is a bi-weekly program that brings community experts into the Library to teach useful hands-on skills. No previous experience necessary.
