Join KFPL and the United Way for a panel discussion on reducing stigma towards homeless populations

This event will be online, with attendees receiving a Zoom link upon registration.

The panel will consist of the following participants:

Jay Nowak – Street Outreach Program

The Street Outreach program provides supports and services for individuals who are living rough or experiencing homelessness, including basic needs items, harm reduction services and appropriate referrals to community services. The Warming Centre opened in January 2022. It operates seven days per week to provide 19 overnight sleeping pods for vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness who are not able to access shelter services. Through a partnership with Lionhearts and Kingston Street Mission, people can also access a meal pick-up service and drop-in program during the evening.

Amanda Brierley – In From the Cold Emergency Adult Shelter

In From the Cold Emergency Shelter is the largest shelter in the City of Kingston for men and women, 25 years of age and older. It operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week. During the pandemic capacity has been reduced from 35 beds to 19.

Ashley O’Brien and Amanda Rogers – Integrated Care Hub

The Integrated Care Hub was created in response to three intersections of crisis within the KFL&A region: the global COVID-19 pandemic, a complex housing crisis, and a fatal drug poisoning crisis. It provides a drop-in, food program, rest zone, connections to community supports, harm reduction services, and Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS).
