Trying to make sense of everything you’re hearing about vaccination? Figuring out what’s factual and what’s fake news is crucial to deciding how it all affects you and your family, but it’s not easy.

Vaccination is a complicated subject. Not only is each of us affected differently by COVID-19, depending on our age, existing health, the type of work we do and our living conditions, but then there are all the different vaccines -- and now all the name changes!  Sometimes it seems like the experts change their minds every month, and social media is rife with conspiracy theories and dramatic claims.  It's easy to feel overwhelmed.

In this interactive Zoom presentation Dr Golden Gao and Dr Samantha Buttemer, both with the Public Health and Preventive Medicine program at Queen's University, will discuss why vaccine hesitancy is so widespread.  Learn how to distinguish trustworthy sources of vaccination information from misinformation, and how to talk about vaccination with those who may disagree with you. These skills are critical in deciding how to manage both our own health as well as the well-being of our community.

This online presentation will be held on Zoom.  Registrants will be emailed the link immediately upon registration.  (Please check your Junk and Spam folders right away if you don't see the confirmation email and link in your Inbox, then adjust your settings to make sure emails from KFPL aren't blocked.  You can also access event links by scrolling over the calendar icon at the top of the main page of our website and signing in to My Events.)

If you don't already have a Kingston Frontenac Public Library membership but would still like to attend this presentation please contact Anne Hall at ahall@kfpl.ca or (613) 549-8888 ext 3528.

Participants will need to download the latest version of Zoom in advance to the device they’ll be using during the presentation.

Please note that registration will close at 6 PM on the day of this program.
